Contact Lens Exams

Contact Lens Exams

The initial step in achieving  a successful contact lens exam is a yearly comprehensive eye examination. This permits our doctors to thoroughly evaluate the health of your eyes and to provide a prescription for glasses. Once the prescription for eyeglasses is determined, then the doctors will determine if you are a good candidate for contact lenses. This will involve a contact lens fitting evaluation. If you're a good candidate the doctor will go through a diagnostic evaluation of different lens designs on the eye using a special microscope and a corneal topographer to determine the exact shape of your eye.

The most important part of wearing your lenses is the professional follow-up care to evaluate your eye health and ability to adapt to the lenses. These office visits are extremely important to be a successful contact lens wearer. For our patient's convenience, these visits can be scheduled during the day or evening by appointment. The professional fees have been determined according to the level of care and number of office visits necessary to monitor the health of your eyes.  Contact lenses are available in prescriptions for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, bifocal/Multifocal corrections, CRT, MiSight, Sclerals,  and other high complex situations such as keratoconus or corneal irregularities.

Patients who are new to contacts lenses are required to have a contact lens training visit with our office to enable them with the latest methods of insertion, removal, and contact lens care.

Contact lens prescriptions are only valid for one year from the date of original exam and can only be released after the contact lens examination and fitting have been completed and the patient is wearing the contact lens successfully.
